Meet Our Talent

Idyll Cañete

Assistant

“Working at the firm made me realize that I can go out of my comfort zone. I realized that I can do things beyond what I think is my limit. Keeping it in mind excites me more of what's ahead of me.”

How was Japan in reality to what you had imagined before you arrived?

To be honest, it exceeds my expectations. There's a lot more in Japan than the beautiful cherry blossoms, colorful anime and modern technology. It's a place full of loving people. Despite the differences, they never fail to show kindness. It's like a home away from home.

What were the initial difficulties of adjusting to life in Japan?

Language barrier has always been a challenge for me while in Japan. It's difficult buying groceries and traveling alone at first. But, Japanese people are always happy to help.

How would you describe your co-workers?

They are very patient, hardworking and dedicated. Having them around makes it easier for me to work. They are always willing to lend you a hand.

Do you feel like you're having an impact directly on the clients that you work for?

Yes. It's always a joy receiving words of thanks from the clients. As a part of the firm that provides quality service the clients are thankful for, I am encouraged to do better.

What are the challenging or difficult aspects of your work?

The firm is aiming to work, as much as possible, with perfection - always in good speed and with quality. With that idea in mind, it gives me both pressure and encouragement. I guess, it's about time to make efficiency a habit.

What is the most important thing that working at the firm has taught you about yourself?

Working at the firm made me realize that I can go out of my comfort zone. I realized that I can do things beyond what I think is my limit. Keeping it in mind excites me more of what's ahead of me.

What is the best thing about being a part of a global team?

You get to learn that companionship knows no nationality. The differences in cultural beliefs and political ideologies did not hinder us from working together efficiently. Diversity even made us appreciate our co-workers more.

I am looking forward to experience ...

more of Japan. I hope to travel more, meet new friends and try activities I haven't tried before. Japan has a lot to offer. I would like to take the chance to experience them all.

What is the most important thing that working at the Firm has taught you about yourself?

The Firm has taught me that I have a lot more perseverance than I thought. The work here is very fast-paced and has very tight deadlines; it can be mentally and even physically exhausting. However, knowing that what I have at hand is of utmost importance to the client, or that the invention can potentially have a big impact on society, gives me motivation to continue putting my full efforts into my work.

When I am not at work, I am ...

writing blogs, practicing the piano or traveling around. These are recreational activities that give my heart warmth.

What one piece of advice you would offer to incoming recruits?

Be prepared. Nothing that is worthwhile is ever easy. You'll probably face difficulties at the onset, but, learning throughout the process is a gain.
