How was Japan in reality to what you had imagined before you arrived?

I have traveled in Japan for quite a lot of times before I start working here. However, for most of the time I only had chances to visit Tokyo. Japan has far more beautiful natural scenes than I have imagined, and I am really enjoying visiting all of them.

How would you describe co-workers when you arrived?

They are really smart and very hard working. And they are very friendly and really helpful. I really appreciate all the advice from my colleagues, not only for working, but also for living and travelling in Japan.

What were the initial difficulties of adjusting to life in Osaka?

Perhaps it is the railway system. It is really complex and the railway system is shared by many different companies. However, it is really amazing to explore the traffic network here and find out the most convenient way to visit many places.

Do you feel like you're having an impact directly on the clients that you work for?

Yes. And I really enjoy the time when receiving my client’s positive feedback for my advice.

When I am not at work, I ...

really enjoy exploring cities, tasting different foods and shopping in Japan. The transportation is very convenient, and you have multiple choices to go from one city to another. Food here is very fresh and exquisite, and Japan has so many themed restaurants. Japanese designers have unique design philosophies, simple elegance and refinement in attitude and form.

What are the challenging or difficult aspects of your work?

We need to deal with technologies from different background, and sometimes they are multidisciplinary. Sometimes it is difficult to fully understand the application and capture the gist of the invention. However, it is always exciting when there is a strategy coming out. I like to solve problems.

the haunted hospital in Fuji theme park. I heard that it is the scariest haunted house in the world.

What is the most important thing that working at SY has taught you about yourself?

I understand my weakness and understand to learn from others. Never stop learning, and never stop improving myself.

What have been your 3 fondest leisure experiences in Japan?

Hotsprings (onsen), Live music performance, Traveling and enjoy the natural scenes around Kansai area.

Can you describe a successful work assignment that was your proudest professional moment thus far?

It was the first time when I learned that my proposed strategy overcame all the rejections, and the application was granted as a patent.

What advice would you give to entry level recruits?

It is not an easy task at the beginning. I am from an engineering background, and law is a completely new thing to me. Therefore, there are lots of challenges at the beginning. However, please do not hesitate to ask questions, and learn from mistakes in each case. Gradually it will become a very exciting job.
