How was Osaka in reality to what you had imagined before you started working in Osaka?
Osaka is... more intimate than I imagined before, I guess. During my previous stays in Japan, I simply passed through Osaka. My impression was that Osaka is a big, busy city, with a lot of people going everywhere. But staying here for an extended time, I could see the more quiet parts, and I quite enjoy it.
How would you describe your co-workers?
Very professional and helpful! They take their responsibility seriously and if I ever have any questions, I know that I can always ask someone for a discussion or confirmation.
Do you feel like you're having an impact directly on the clients that you work for?
Yes, especially when we get feedback from the clients, and it is clear that they consider our work product seriously. More so if it is a positive feedback.
What are your 3 fondest leisure experiences in Japan?
I would say walking in the park when sakura flowers are blooming, going to an onsen, and watching the big fireworks by the river.
What are the challenging or difficult aspects of your work?
I would say the learning part is very challenging. At work, I almost feel like my sense of what is 'clear' or 'logical' and not has been thoroughly shaken, and it is as much learning as it is unlearning the things that is previously in my head. One more challenging part is surprisingly: communicating clearly. Sometimes when you feel like you have been clear enough, people understand that differently, and vice versa.
I am looking forward
being around snow, as I came from a tropical country where it is summer 24/7/365.
What is the best thing about being a part of a global team?
I think that you feel like you have company here. Because everyone comes from somewhere different, I feel like we are facing similar challenges, and that a lot of people here would know how you feel.
When I am not at work, I am ...
either sleeping or looking for a new place to eat (which is not hard to do in Osaka!).
What advice would you give a potential new colleague?
Be ready to learn from your mistakes, especially if this line of work is new to you. You will learn a lot, but that unfortunately also means that you will also make mistakes, that you have to learn from in order to improve.
