How was Japan in reality to what you had imagined before you arrived?

Japan in reality is not as crowded as I have imagined, but the English language is not as universal as I have imagined, especially in rural areas.

How would you describe co-workers when you arrived?

My co-workers have solid backgrounds in their respective specialties. They are committed to the quality of their work, and are reliable and helpful as team members. They have taught me a lot of new things, and have always been a good influence on me.

What were the initial difficulties of adjusting to life in Osaka?

The initial difficulty was the language barrier. I started learning Japanese three months before I came here. However, it still took me a fair amount of effort to figure out how to apply for a debit card, reschedule a delivery, make reservation for a trip and etc.

When I am not at work,

I am learning Japanese by every means, and traveling around Japan.

Do you feel like you're having an impact directly on the clients that you work for?

Yes. I am communicating with at least 5 clients every day, answering their questions, advising them the best strategy tailored to their needs. What are the challenging or difficult aspects of your work?

I find my work challenging as it is constantly fast-paced and each case is unique. The inventions of our clients are diverse, reflecting every frontier of biological/medical/chemical technology, and sometimes interdisciplinary. For each invention, I am expected to grasp the gist in a short time, know all the important details by heart, and communicate my ideas by efficient writing. This can get very challenging when the number of cases assigned to me increases before the due date.
