SY’s Patent Client Wins 2021 Nobel Prize for Chemistry

Dr. David MacMillan received the 2021 Nobel Prize for Chemistry for his work on asymmetric organocatalysis that is used for building molecules that have helped make new drugs and are more environmentally friendly. The Nobel Prize award committee lauded the discovery as “a new and ingenious tool for molecule building” which has spurred the development of plastics, perfumes and flavors. The Firm is glad to have represented Dr. MacMillan in preparing and filing the Japanese patent application directed to this Nobel Prize winning discovery.
