Mr. Masahisa HASEBE counsels and assists local and foreign life sciences clients to develop efficient strategies to ensure successful patent portfolio management, prosecution, opposition and invalidation. His fields of expertise include biotechnology, cleantech, diagnostic, surgical and medical imaging equipment & devices, microbiology, molecular biology, medical devices & instruments, and organic chemistry, owing his ability to handle varied patent cases to his extensive experience with patent prosecution and litigation.
Born in Hokkaido, Mr. Hasebe completed both his undergraduate and master’s degrees in Fermentation Technology from Osaka University in 1989 and 1991, respectively. Prior to joining the Firm as an Associate in 1999, he was a researcher for a Sweden-born pharmaceutical and biotechnological company.
Mr. Hasebe is a native Japanese speaker and is proficient in the English language. He is currently based in the Osaka branch. Mr. Hasebe was permitted to practice before the Japanese Patent Office in 2005 and was certified to practice Intellectual Property litigation in Japan in 2008.
